Explore the ancient world with archaeologists, Egyptologists and historians who bring its stories to life. Many research or excavate in the places you visit. There’s nothing quite like examining a decorated tomb alongside an experienced Egyptologist, or standing before prehistoric cave paintings with someone who has spent a career studying them.
Our experts help you picture the people who lived in these places and understand the clues they left behind. They share how discoveries are made, why interpretations change and which mysteries still spark debate. With time to look closer and ask questions, every site has more to reveal.
Follow Greece and Rome across the ancient world with experts who reveal the people, places and stories behind it.
Explore humanity's earliest story through cave art, standing stones and ancient sites with expert insight.
Trace the rise of early civilisations, from Minoan palaces to Egypt and the Silk Road, with expert insight.
Our experts include working archaeologists, Egyptologists and historians, with specialisms in particular periods and regions. Many excavate, carry out research or publish work on the places and subjects you’ll explore together.
Not at all. Whether you’re exploring a new interest or have studied the ancient world for years, you’ll find a welcome here. Our experts explain things clearly, enjoy exchanging ideas and make time for your questions.
Yes – that’s part of the fascination. Your specialist will help you see how clues in a building, an object or a painting can reveal how people lived. They’ll also share different interpretations, and the questions archaeologists are still trying to answer.
Some return regularly, while others vary between departures as their research and fieldwork schedules change. You’ll find the confirmed expert listed in each departure’s details, so you can see who you’ll be travelling with.
