Discover the empire that rivalled Rome

Our Tunisia tours explore the heartland of Carthage, whose struggle with Rome in the Punic Wars helped shape the history of the Mediterranean. Carthage itself is a natural starting point, and beyond it stand remarkable cities that flourished under Roman rule, their mosaics among the great treasures of Roman Africa. Travelling south, the landscapes change from the Mediterranean coast towards the Sahara, while Islamic architecture and living traditions add further layers to the classical past. Tunisia’s wealth of sites within a relatively compact country means a single journey can take you through centuries of history.

Each Tunisia tour is built around a shared interest in archaeology and ancient history, with specialists who help you piece together the rivalries, beliefs and everyday lives behind the ruins.

From Carthage’s harbours to Roman mosaics, Tunisia reveals both the struggle for a Mediterranean empire and the richly detailed lives within it.
